APRC practice session
PRESS RELEASE | 9 AUGUST 2017
APRC drivers took part in the practice session this morning at
the Tai Tak plantations. The drivers Gaurav Gill, Ole Chritian
Vieby, Jari Ketoma, Mike Young and Yuya Sumiyama all took to the
2km wet and damp stage. Heavy overnight rain made it slippery
but it didn¡¯t stop the drivers from driving the rally cars at
competition speed. Driver¡¯s quotes right after their practice
Sumiya. Cusco Racing Skoda Fabia R5
Its Yuya¡¯s first experience driving a Skoda Fabia R5 after switching
from the Subaru Impreza. ¡°Car is very fast and light. More power
and better balance¡±. Cusco Racing hope that he will finish as
high as possible this weekend. It¡¯s a good car but there is a
lot to learn about it.
Christian Vieby. Team MRF Skoda Fabia R5
Its Ole¡¯s first time in Malaysia. ¡°It¡¯s different and a lot of
junctions. Seen nothing like it. It is going to be the difficult
rally for me this year. You really need good pace notes to do
well here.¡± He added
Ketomaa. Mpart Sport Mitsubishi Mirage R5
Jari¡¯s second time in the event. And after finishing second here
last year. He is confident that he can do well again this year.
¡°The car has a little bit more power than it did last year and
I have a good feeling with the car and hope I can win¡±.
Takale. Mpart Sport Mitsubishi Mirage R5
Sanjey Takale was present at the practice session minus his rally
car as the car is still awaiting custom clearance. He however
sat in the co-driver¡¯s seat with Jari Ketomaa. ¡°It¡¯s a fantastic
little car. I am really looking forward to drive it here and learn
as much as I can quickly.
Tomorrow morning the competitors will began reconnaissance of
the rally stages.
