Leg 1 ¨C Roduwan leads

total of 3 stages totaling 44km made up leg 1 today. 21 cars started
the rally minus Karamjit Singh and Shafiq Shamsuddin whom came
to Perlis without their cars. Their cars had problems and couldn¡¯t
be ready in time. The cars were flagged off by The Raja Muda of
Perlis in Arau in the afternoon.
rally stages, slightly damp due to overnight rain was the best
surface for rallying. The damp conditions provided good grip for
the cars to drive on. However in rally a lot can go wrong. It
was supposed to be a stroll MRU boss Muhd Rafiq with his Subaru
Impreza. Being co-driven by his son for the first time Muhd Tramimi,
he had lost a few gears and was unable go flat out in the stages.
It was Roduwan (or Cepot as he know) whom capatalised on Rafiq
problems to take a 23 second lead by the end of SS3. Certainly
the extra power and traction from the Subaru Impreza played the
a Turbo charged 4wd rally car for the first time was a shock for
Mohd Shazmie as he found driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 (in
his very own words) ¡®Very Easy¡¯. The extra weight, traction
and power from the car suited his liking and true to his word
he recorded a stage win (SS3) and completed the day in second
place 23.7 seconds behind the leader. Muhd Rafiq managed to nurse
his gearless car to 3 rd spot.
to be very nervous on his return to rallying, Sutan Mustaffa showed
that he has lost none of his rallying skill as he finished 4 th
and leads the 2wd category just 33 seconds behind Muhd Rafiq.
Rounding up the top 5 is Dinnie Nazmie. At the moment he could
be the only one who could knock Sutan from winning the 2wd category.
cars failed to finish leg. Among them is the familiar Rafizal.
After months of preparation and TLC, Rafizal still can¡¯t get
his Proton Satria 4wd to work properly and this time it¡¯s overheating.
Hj Suhaimi cyco first ever drive in a 4wd rally car ended prematurely
with terminal engine problems and the all ladies entry of Che
Siti Noorkhatyrinee and Zamzalina was excluded from the rally
for arriving late to the first check point.
2 begins with SS4 at 9:08 am Sunday. The competitors will do a
full loop of 190km before finishing the rally in Arau at 5pm.
Will Cepot be able to convert his Leg 1 lead into his first outright
