Arau. Perlis ¨C Roduwan Rashid and his co-driver Amirul Zahri
won the first round of the Malaysian Rally Championship 2017 here
today. Driving an old version Subaru Impreza for the first time
and DWau One Motorsport BDRT team first event, he held on to the
lead of the rally from start to finish with a margin of just over
a minute from second place teammate Mohd Shazmie Mohd Ilias. After
getting comfortable with the Subaru Impreza he just continued
getting faster for the course of Leg 2. It a good start for the
new DWau One Motorsport BDRT team as 4 of the 6 cars entered finished
the event with Cepot and Mohd Shazmie finishing on the top spot.
The team celebrated their successes with Doa¡¯s and prayers at
the service park.
9 stages was held in hot and dry conditions. The extra heat it
didn¡¯t affect the competitors much as they were concentrating
on securing position till the end of the rally. Second place Mohd
Shazmie was under pressure from MRU¡¯s Mohd Rafiq in the beginning
but the pressure was off when Mohd Rafiq retired with engine problems.
Sutan Mustaffa inherited 3 rd with Rafiq¡¯s demise and held on
to it and took the 2wd overall win in the process. An excellent
finish on his return to the Championship after a 7 year absence.
th place went to Aabhishek Mishra and PVS Murthy from India driving
MRU¡¯s Proton Satria. A fast driver and he adapted well to rally
conditions in Perlis. Aabhishek plans to do more rallies here.
21 seconds behind Aabhishek and taking 5 th spot is Henzee Hamzah.
The switch from the Kelisa to a Proton Satria made him even faster
and he could be a serious contender in the 2wd class.
th place belongs to Amir Ahmad and his Proton Satria 4wd. His
car had engine troubles all rally long and coming in sixth is
all he can manage. 7 th place went to Azmeer Yusri with a Proton
Satria given out to him to couch co driver Abdul Raqib Aurani
whom plans to drive on the future. Khairul Anuar Ahmad, Azrul
Azhar Norbakari, Sanjay Takale and Muhammad Hashrul Jamaluddin
completed the list of the classified 11 outright finishers out
of the 21 cars which took part in event.
August the Malaysian Rally Championship heads south for round

with more competitive distance to cover on an event which is also
part of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship. Congrats to all the
