Leg 1 - Comfortable lead for Karamjit Singh
16 DECEMBER 2017

It was a hectic day today for the competitors of the final round of the Championship. The competitors were up as early as 7 am to begin reconnaissance of the stages. After a short break, the ceremonial start which marks the beginning of the rally began at 2:30 pm. The strong field of 25 cars paraded around the service park before heading of the stages. The tranquil backdrop of the stages was blessed with slightly mild and windy weather, excellent conditions for rallying

A total of distances of 45.52km split up into 3 stages made up leg 1. As expected Karamjit Singh driving his Proton Gen 2 4WD won all the 3 stages and created a healthy lead of 1:43 seconds over Mohd Rafiq and his Subaru Impreza. Karamjit said by the end of the day even though he isn't really happy with his cars performance, he is happy to finish Leg 1 in the led. Mohd Rafiq had gearbox issues and was unable to match Karamjits pace and his position is under threat by Sutan Mustaffa whom is 23 seconds behind in 3rd spot. Sutan had a trouble free day and has his sights on second spot on Leg 2.

DWau One Motorsports Suhaimi Nasro Ali was the teams lead car in 4th place followed by teammates Roduwan Rashid and Henzee Hamzah. Unlike Suhaimi whom had no issues with his Subaru Impreza, Roduwan Rashid was unable to record good stages times due to clutch problems and Henzee Hamzah was delayed due to his time exploring his new Proton Satria Neos full potential.

Dinie Nazmie and Mohd Haniff are locked in a battle of their own as the two are just separated tby 7 seconds. Dinie seems to have the upper hand with his experience with the Proton Satria but Mohd Haniff driving the Satria Neo clearly enjoys driving on the wide and straight roads reflected by some quick stage time. Mohd Rafizal and Abdul Kaathir rounded up the top 10.

A further 6 stages and 92 km makes up leg 2. It another early morning start for all the crew. With the weather forecast expected to remain dry throughout the day, the competitors will have another great day of rallying.
