23 cars started Round 3 of the Malaysian Rally Championship in
the compounds of the Rally HQ in Sri Iskandar just after 2 pm
Saturday. Entries included new and old faces in local rallying
scene. Among them is Faidzil Alang and Kenneth Koh. Both of them
are making a one off appearance in the championship in two different
cars. Faidzil in his trusty championship wining Satria while Kenneth
makes his first appearance in a 4wd Mitsubishi Lancer once driven
by Karamjit Singh.
1 consist of 3 stages looping the through the Gelung Gajah and
Bukit Kota plantations. Hot and dry conditions and a long dry
spell made the rally routes very dusty with a thick layer of powder
over the surface. As championship leader Roduwan Rashid lead the
23 cars over the start ramp. Muhammad Rafiq, Karamjit Singh, Kenneth
Koh, Hj Suhaimi and Rafizal will be fighting for honors in the
4WD category while the 2WD will be hotly contested by Sutan, Henzee,
Faidzal and Muhd Khairul Nizam.
the end of SS3, Muhd Rafiq leads rally with a health margin of
over a minute over Hj Suhaimi in second place. The 2WD category
is led by Dinnie Nazmi whom finish leg 1 in 3rd spot. Dinnie Nazmi
will have a hard time on Sunday as Sutan, MRU Motorsports Abdul
Kaathir and Mohd Henzee are only separated by less than a minute.
It will be and interesting battle for them to finish on the podium.
Singh, Kenneth Koh and Roduwan Rashid retired from leg 1 with
mechanical failure. The trio will continue Leg 2 under the super
rally format. Leg 2 consist of 6 stages. It will be and interest
event at there will be a lot of tension between the drivers to
finish as high as possible by the of the rally.
