Hj Suhaimi bags his 1 st win in Perak
22 OCTOBER 2017



Keeping a cool head in the blistering heat in rally stages earned Hj Suhaimi his first outright win of his rallying career and making it even sweater winning it in his hometown. He took the lead on the on SS 6 after Rafiq¡¯s Subaru Impreza retired with a blown turbo. Rafiq¡¯s demise elevated Hj Suhami and his DWau One Motorsports BDRT Sponsored Subaru Impreza into first place. With a lead of over a minute ahead of the other competitors he was able to cruise to the finish ramp at Rally HQ. It was anxious moments for him and co-driver Mohd Ridzuan as the drive the car back to rally HQ. There were joys, celebrations, and tears in the DWau One Motorsports BDRT celebrating the team¡¯s second outright win in the 2017 Malaysian Rally Championship.

6 stages made up leg 2 covering a total distance of 240km ran under scorching heat and according to the competitors, the heat was unbearable. The duel of the 2WDs for podium finished was reduce to only one car when Sutan broke a drive shaft on stage 6 and Abdul Kaathir stopped in stage 8 with mechanical problems. This left Dinie Nazmie to finish in second spot and Mohd Henzee completed the podium finishers. Muhd Khairul Niza and Rafizal rounded up the top 5 finishers. Muhd Khairul Niza leads the class P9 yet again finishing way ahead of his rivals.

A total of 12 out the 22 cars completed the total distance of the rally. Azrul Azhar, Sanjey Takale, Shafiq, Faidzal Alang, Japanese lady driver Rin Sayamina and Muhd Hashrul completed the list of finishers. The Perak round of the championship turned out to be the hottest event in the championship to date.

The final round of the Malaysian Rally Championship is scheduled to take place in Melaka this December. It¡¯s a new event in the calendar and promises to be an exciting event with new challenges altogether. Congrats to all the competitors and all the best for preparing the next event.
