
Rachmat wins a rain drenched event

It
was the wettest event held in years. Heavy downpours throughout
the day turned the stages into rivers which meant driving
through it almost impossible. Only 4 of the originally planned
6 stages were used with the roadside stages length shortened
by half as it was flooded. It is that time of the year when
the eastern side of Peninsular Malaysia gets it annual monsoon
season and the adventures of the Malaysian Rally Championship
2018 comes to a close.

Rachmat and co-driver scored a hattrick of wins when he
bagged the win here 1 minute and 20 seconds clear of second
place Mohd Rafiq Udaya. Rachmat driving MRU¡¯s Mitsubishi
Lancer Evo 9 drove cautiously over the mud and water splash.
Rafiq on the other drove his Subaru Impreza hard over the
mud demonstrating the Subaru Impreza¡¯s water resistance
capabilities. Sutan Mustaffa finish third in his first ever
drive in a 4WD turbo charged machine. He showed abilities
adapting to cars superior power and grip by constantly posting
